Privacy Policy

INTRODUCTION

What is privacy? Does it still exist in the 21st century? Day in, day out, we provide our personal information to people we don’t personally know. Whether it’s through a landing page, a web form or some other means, it’s so ubiquitous that it is now instinctual. From names, addresses, email addresses, our age, date of birth and gender, we are constantly asked to provide our personal information.

WHAT DOES IT COVER?

In the technological utopia that is the 21st century it’s likely that your business will also be collecting personal data from its customers. A Privacy Policy is a document which outlines how and why your business collects, stores and uses personal information.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

If your business has an annual turnover of $3 million, under Australian law you are required to have a privacy policy. Importantly, this hurdle doesn’t necessarily exempt those with a lesser turnover. Depending on the type of personal information you collect and the type of business you operate you may still need a Privacy Policy.

Irrespective of the minimum thresholds, we believe it is a good business practice to have a Privacy Policy for your business. A clear, tailored policy not only informs your own business’ processes for collecting, storing and using customer data, but it also informs your clients and customers about why you need to ask for their data. Ensuring that you and your clients are on the same page regarding the personal information you collect will build trust and confidence in your business.
